About the Role
As a Closing Team Leader, you will continue the momentum from the team’s day of hard work to finish strong, ensuring the guest experience is prioritized until the doors close each night. You will have a deep understanding of each leader’s vision for their business and help execute closing routines while fostering a fun and productive team environment.

Responsibilities

- Prioritize the guest experience by modeling, training, and coaching service expectations
- Understand your role in sales growth and how each area impacts total store profitability
- Lead and demonstrate a culture of executing best practices, closing skill gaps through development, coaching, and team interactions
- Problem-solve and prioritize across multiple business areas to execute store strategies and deliver business results while maintaining guest focus
- Assist leaders through communication and collaboration to influence sales performance and workload deliverables
- Support store operations by ensuring departments are zoned, in-stock, signed, and labeled appropriately for the next day
- Use business planning tools to share priorities and updates with store leadership
- Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team
- Support team onboarding, learning, and skill development through coaching and interactions
- Establish clear goals and expectations, holding team members accountable and providing performance feedback
- Follow all safe and secure training and processes as a key carrier, addressing store emergency and compliance needs
- Demonstrate a safety culture by modeling safe behaviors, correcting hazards, and holding the team accountable
- Engage with guests in a welcoming manner, solving their specific needs and thanking them for shopping at Target
- Model physical security processes to enhance in-store security culture
- Support merchandise protection strategies, including ordering, storage, and application as directed
- Maintain compliance while executing guest services such as order pickup, Drive-Up orders, and returns
- Perform all other duties as needed based on business requirements
Requirements
- Previous retail experience preferred, but not required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Ability to lead and hold others accountable
- Experience communicating on multiple frequency devices and operating handheld scanners and other technology equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong workload management and task prioritization skills
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
- Effective communication skills
- Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
- Ability to interpret instructions, reports, and information accurately
- Capability to handle cash register operations as needed
- Ability to climb up and down ladders
- Capability to scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without assistance
- Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays) with reliable and prompt attendance
- Capability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing job duties
- Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)
