About the role
Perform tests which require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility, with minimal supervision by the Lead, Supervisor, Manager, or Director in only those specialties or subspecialties in which they are qualified by education, training, and experience. Resolve problems as needed to ensure a safe blood supply and a reasonable testing turn around time.
Responsibilities
- Follow Clinical Trial and Testing Laboratory's Standard Operating Procedures for sample handling and processing, testing, reporting and maintaining records of test results.
- Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies and document all quality control activities, equipment and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
- Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problems or immediately notify the testing laboratory management or Medical Director.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
- Perform all necessary maintenance on testing equipment and document on applicable maintenance forms.
- Troubleshoot issues with equipment, reagents, and controls.
- Communicate all accessioning, sample processing, testing, equipment, and reagent issues to Supervisor/Lead Technician.
- Be available to work hours according to Clinical Trial needs.
- Discard samples as required.
- Inspect reagents and supplies that are received in the testing laboratory.
- Label reagents and supplies with date received and status.
- Store reagents and supplies in the appropriate location.
- Perform additional duties as designated for Clinical Trials needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution.
- At least one year of clinical molecular testing experience is required.
- Medical Laboratory Technician Certification is preferred.
- Written and verbal communication skills are required.
Pay
$30.00-$35.00 an hour based on education and experience.
Schedule
PRN (as needed) weekdays or weekends; day shift.
