About the role
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides medical services for complex acute and chronic health issues, such as trauma, high-risk obstetrics, sepsis, GI bleeds, strokes, and more. As a Clinical Technician, you will assist with basic patient care, maintain room cleanliness and demonstrate empathy and compassion in all activities and interactions. Responsibilities
- Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, patient transfers/transport, applying external monitoring devices, further technical skills of phlebotomy, 12-lead ECGs and removing urinary Foley Catheters.
- Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
- Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross upon or within new hire period (*Nursing students must obtain prior to hire*)
- One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student with at least one completed clinical rotation as part of an accredited Nursing School Program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) OR additional education/training (e.g., mental health)
- Demonstrates proficiency in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an 8th grade level
Physical Requirements
- Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
- Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
Personal Protective Equipment
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Schedule
This position works nights 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday requirements.
Pay
The pay range displayed reflects the anticipated range for new hires: $19.25 - $25.95 per hour. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.) or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
