Patient Care Technician Intensive Care Unit ICU
Responsibilities
- Provides patient related care tasks based on the principles of growth and development across the life span of patients served in his/her independent unit.
- Affords assistance, observation, and reporting of patient changes to licensed caregiver and maintains accurate medical record documentation relative to the care delivered.
- Addresses and/or directs questions or concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or health care team members.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Completion of Block 1 in Nursing OR Medical Assistant (MA) OR Nursing Assistant (NA) OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) OR Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) OR 6 months of experience in the healthcare setting within the last year Required
- 6 months in acute care experience. Preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification Required
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Certification Preferred
- Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT) - License Emergency Medical Tech Preferred
Qualifications
This hybrid HUC/PCT role combines direct patient care with unit coordination responsibilities, serving as one of the first points of contact for patients and families entering the ICU. The ICU is a high-acuity, fast-paced environment where compassion, empathy, professionalism, and strong communication skills are essential. We welcome candidates with healthcare experience as well as those who are new to the field and eager to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact on the patient and family experience.

Self-scheduling for shift and weekend coverage. Weekend and Holiday Rotations are required in this role. Weekend shift differentials are offered, along with evening and night shift differentials where applicable.

The position is a part-time Day shift working with 2-12 hour shifts from 6:00 AM–6:30 PM. Scheduled workdays may vary, as there are no set or fixed days.
