About the role

Join Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital, a Magnet Hospital awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, in the Coronary Care Unit. This unit cares for adult and geriatric patients with acute and chronic diagnoses such as acute coronary syndrome/MI, potential lethal arrhythmias, pulmonary edema/complicated CHF, hemodynamic instability of a cardiac origin, and post-cardiac arrest. The unit features a dynamic work environment with an active Unit Shared Governance Council that organizes community outreach programs.

As a Clinical Technician, you will assist with basic patient care, maintain room cleanliness, and demonstrate empathy and compassion in all activities and interactions. This position offers hands-on experience, skill enhancement, and career growth opportunities within Cleveland Clinic. Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, including taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, patient transfers/transport, applying external monitoring devices, phlebotomy, 12-lead ECGs, and removing urinary Foley catheters.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to an RN.
  • Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (upon or within new hire period). *Nursing students must obtain prior to hire.
  • One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student with at least one completed clinical rotation as part of an accredited Nursing School Program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W), or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) OR additional education/training (e.g., mental health).
  • Demonstrated competencies in professional, technical, and clinical knowledge domains in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Proficiency in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at an 8th-grade level.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Physical demand requirements exceed those for Medium Work.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Schedule

Day/night rotation of 6:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m., with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Pay

Pay range for new hires: $19.25 – $25.95 per hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. This range does not include applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime) or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental, vision, retirement savings account contributions).
