Responsibilities

  • Fulfill all responsibilities of the Patient Care Specialist position as detailed in the specific job description.
  • Maintain friendly, cordial relations with all employees, patients, and external partners.
  • Deliver clinical and administrative support while adhering to company policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations, including HIPAA and health information management.
  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms for patient intake.
  • Triage patients by checking vitals, performing blood draws, administering injections, and observing patient conditions.
  • Chart and report changes in patients’ conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment.
  • Assist with lab testing, phlebotomy, and minor procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatment.
  • Assist patients utilizing a Virtual Medicine Provider.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of patient charts and forward them as appropriate.
  • Arrange referrals to specialists and obtain pre-authorizations as directed by the Provider.
  • Perform federal and non-federal DOT, BAT, and Drug Screen exams.
  • Comply with physical, cognitive, and environmental demands of the position.
  • Promote and maintain confidentiality for employees, employers, and business operations.
  • Complete all mandatory compliance training.
  • Maintain overall cleanliness of the office, including garbage disposal, organization, and team support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Assist with clerical work, such as checking in patients and recording demographic, insurance, and financial information.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and relay payment policies and billing/collection processes.
  • Answer telephones, take messages, and return voicemails in a professional manner.
  • Prepare patient charts for virtual patient communication via phone or video conferencing.
  • Assist with patient follow-ups, including pharmacy requests, paperwork, scheduling, and clinical calls.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR license.
  • Experience requirements vary by level:
    • Level 1: At least 1 year of experience as a certified MA, EMT, or Paramedic (preferred in a clinic setting, ideally urgent care).
    • Level 2: Certified MA, EMT, or Paramedic with a current CPR license and either (1) 4 years of relevant experience plus 2 years of Fast Pace experience as a Clinical Tech, or (2) 6 years of relevant experience.
    • Level 3: Certified MA, EMT, or Paramedic with a current CPR license and either (1) 6 years of relevant experience plus 2 years of Fast Pace experience as a Clinical Tech, or (2) 8 years of relevant experience.
    • Level 4: Certified MA, EMT, or Paramedic with a current CPR license and either (1) 6 years of relevant experience plus 2 years of Fast Pace experience as a Clinical Tech, or (2) 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant school (strongly preferred).
  • Active, verifiable license in good standing with the proper regulatory agency.
  • TB and IV Certification required within 60 days of employment (if applicable in your state).
  • Must be receptive to training and active within 7 days of hire.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Administrative duties, including scheduling, ordering, training, and other tasks assigned by Clinic or Regional Director.
