Clinical Systems Analyst (Associate, Mid, or Senior)
About the role
The MDS Teams are responsible for the effective implementation, optimization, maintenance, and support of Clinical Systems that integrate with Epic System applications at Penn Medicine. The role involves configuring and customizing clinical systems, performing system testing, and providing end-user training and support. It also includes analyzing, troubleshooting, and problem-solving complex issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and facilitating vendor releases and system enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, implement, support, and maintain clinical information systems within the Penn Medicine Health System.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, IT teams, and vendors to ensure the effective utilization of clinical systems to support patient care and improve operational efficiency.
- Perform analysis, troubleshooting, and problem solving of simple to complex issues at the technical, interface, and application levels.
- Identify root-cause, recommend, test, and implement changes.
- Manage and prioritize tasks independently and with leadership guidance.
- Communicate problems, issues, and potential solutions to team members, clients, and organizational administration.
- Escalate complex issues as necessary.
- Clearly define and articulate workflow changes offered with software/hardware upgrades and best practice solutions as recommended by the vendor.
- Define and document user requirements, system scope, and roadmap for future enhancements.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of end-to-end clinical workflows within an EHR system, with Emergency Department experience preferred.
- Ability to build trust and credibility with physicians, nurses, and operational leaders by demonstrating empathy for their challenges and a focus on patient safety and care efficiency.
- Initiative-taking with the ability to manage schedules, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines independently and with leadership guidance.

- Required Education and Experience:
- H.S. Diploma/GED and 4+ years Clinical Application Support, Troubleshooting, Analysis, HL7, Interfaces, Vital Signs Workflow, Document Management, Electronic Medical Record, Software/Hardware Upgrades, Electronic Dictation for Associate Clinical Systems Analyst.
- Associate's Degree in IT, Healthcare IT, Management IS, Information Science, Biomedical Engineering, Business Administration, Healthcare Information Management and 3+ years Clinical Application Support, Troubleshooting, Analysis, HL7, Interfaces, Vital Signs Workflow, Document Management, Electronic Medical Record, Software/Hardware Upgrades, Electronic Dictation for Clinical Systems Analyst.
- Bachelor's Degree IT, Healthcare IT, Management IS, Information Science, Biomedical Engineering, Business Administration, Healthcare Information Management and 1+ years Clinical Application Support, Troubleshooting, Analysis, HL7, Interfaces, Vital Signs Workflow, Document Management, Electronic Medical Record, Software/Hardware Upgrades, Electronic Dictation for Senior Clinical Systems Analyst.

Schedule
The role is hybrid, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
