Department Overview
Our St. Paul float team is an integral part of nursing services, providing a valuable resource across the entire Children's Minnesota St. Paul Campus. Float team members apply skills in multiple areas, supporting all medical-surgical units and offering optional tracks in the NICU or PICU (including the ED and PACU). This role provides flexibility to work in different units while learning new skills daily. The team values teamwork, open communication, safety, and respect, fostering an environment that encourages learning and professional growth. We incorporate the Comfort Promise to minimize procedural pain and prioritize family-centered care, considering social, economic, and cultural diversity.
Responsibilities
- Provides safe patient care as delegated by licensed nursing staff.
- Maintains equipment and supplies per unit standard.
Requirements
- Completed a nursing assistant course or equivalent experience, or completed a nursing or health care-related clinical practicum course.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One year of previous Nursing Assistant experience or equivalent experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient communication, critical thinking, and prioritization skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English to perform job functions.
- Basic computer operation skills.

Pay
The posted salary represents a market-competitive range based on benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries are based on full-time employment (40 standard hours per week) and prorated for part-time positions. Individual pay rates consider market indicators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, internal equity, and organizational needs.
Benefits
In addition to salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions requiring night, weekend, or on-call work may qualify for shift differentials or premium pay.
