About the role

This position operates under the supervision of professional clinical staff and works closely with providers to assist with patient intake and coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and escorts patients and guests to examination rooms.
  • Collects and tracks patient paperwork, ensuring thorough and accurate completion of forms and information.
  • Obtains patient vitals and documents them in the EMR.
  • Communicates with patients as directed by providers and shares patient information.
  • Schedules patient appointments according to office protocols.
  • Aids in maintaining a clean and well-stocked work area and examination rooms.
  • Maintains medical supply inventory in clinical areas.
  • Assists with training and orientation of new staff.
  • Serves as a liaison between patients and providers.
  • Takes and relays accurate messages.
  • Assists with lifting patients and medical equipment.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in training and committees.
  • Assists with special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent between ages 15-17 with a valid work permit.
  • Successful completion of a related program and/or current C.N.A., EMT, PCT, etc. preferred.
  • Valid CPR certification.

Skills

  • Demonstrated competency in obtaining accurate patient vital statistics and patient health history.
  • Proficiency in operating a standard desktop and Windows-based computer system, including electronic medical records, email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms, including proper phone etiquette.
  • Knowledge of patient care procedures and organizational policies related to position responsibilities.
  • Ability to prioritize, be well organized, and perform multiple tasks.
  • Physical activity that often requires keyboarding, phone work and charting, lifting over 50 lbs, handling and lifting patients, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, kneeling and/or twisting, and occasionally lifting up to 100 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.
  • Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone or face to face for long periods of time in English.
