About the role
This position operates under the supervision of professional clinical staff and works closely with providers to assist with patient intake and coordination.
Responsibilities
- Greets and escorts patients and guests to examination rooms.
- Collects and tracks patient paperwork, ensuring thorough and accurate completion of forms and information.
- Obtains patient vitals and documents them in the EMR.
- Communicates with patients as directed by providers.
- Serves as a liaison between patients and providers.
- Schedules patient appointments according to office protocols.
- Ensures efficient office flow by anticipating and addressing the needs of providers, patients, and colleagues.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of work areas and examination rooms.
- Monitors and restocks medical supplies in clinical areas.
- Assists with training and orientation of new staff.
- Takes and relays messages accurately and promptly.
- Aids in the lifting of patients and medical equipment when necessary.
- Attends required meetings and participates in training and committees.
- Assists with special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, with a valid work permit for those under 18.
- Successful completion of a related program and/or current C.N.A., EMT, PCT, etc.
- Valid CPR certification.
Skills
- Competency in obtaining accurate patient vital statistics and health history.
- Proficiency in operating a standard desktop and Windows-based computer system, including electronic medical records, email, and other relevant software.
- Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms, including proper phone etiquette.
- Knowledge of patient care procedures and organizational policies related to the position.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, be organized, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to solve problems and apply critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of compliance aspects of clinical care and patient privacy.
- Ability to handle patient and organizational information confidentially.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle patients.
