Full-time night shift position at St Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Supports administrative responsibility for department service functions and collaborates with the unit Director and/or Manager.
  • Assumes administrative scope of the unit in the absence of the unit Director and/or Manager.
  • Develops and implements departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with federal/state regulations.
  • Prepares, conducts, and oversees department orientation and training of personnel.
  • Communicates with staff, physicians, and administration both written and verbally.
  • Accountable for the quality of staff and functions during their shift.
  • Assists the Department Director in daily operations, directing, supervising, and evaluating personnel to ensure proper use of time, equipment, and staff.
  • Ensures efficient department functions.
  • Performs direct patient care as needed within the scope of practice.
  • Continually assesses care and directs staff to make immediate changes in the plan of care.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current ACLS certificate (required within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter).
  • Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC (required within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter).
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Minimum of one year as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting; E.D. setting preferred.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certificate within 12 months of hire.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) within 2 years of hire preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.

Facility / Unit Training

  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certificate preferred for Intensive Care.
  • In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN certification within 12 months of hire.
  • EDAP Certified Facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 & 2 within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum of 4 hours of CEU in Pediatric Training Classes per year; ENPC preferred.
  • Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
  • Non-OB facilities: Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 30 days of hire.
  • Professional Certification within 2 years of hire preferred.

Pay

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $36.75 to $55.70 per hour. The exact starting compensation will be determined based on factors such as skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
