Clinical Supervisor/Dental Asst.

About the role

The Clinical Manager partners with the office team to provide excellent clinical support to help patients get the care they need. A Clinical Manager will prepare the patient for treatment, assist the dentist in restorative dentistry or oral surgery, prepare materials and equipment for treatment, and coordinate and direct the dental surgical assistants with daily tasks and responsibilities to ensure a smooth patient flow. May perform other work related items to include, but not limited to, making appointments, answering the phone, ordering supplies and approving time cards.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent chair-side clinical support and assisting to Doctors which includes but not limited to: charting, operatory set/clean up, patient education.
• Train and instruct team members in job duties and company policies or arrange for training to be provided and hold team members accountable for such training.
• Direct dental surgical assistants; coordinates and delegates daily tasks and responsibilities.
• Manage patient flow by directing dental surgical assistants to respond to changes; prioritizes next operatory room set-up.
• Partner with Office Manager and Doctors to manage dental surgical assistant staffing levels and schedule to manage adequate coverage.
• Record and reviews patient health history, make chart entries under the direction of the doctor and assure completion of forms and signatures in dental software.
• Enters and updates patient treatment plan at the direction of the treating doctor.
• Review daily schedule to set up appropriate trays and instruments.
• Prepare patient, sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, maintain chain of asepsis, prepare materials, and assist dentist during dental procedures following OSHA guidelines.
• Order and monitor dental supplies and equipment inventory.
• Organize and assemble routine and specialty surgical instrument trays and other sterilized supplies, filling special requests as needed.
• Follow OSHA regulations and safety requirements to include compliance with HIPAA guidelines, CPR, X-rays, and other required certifications and registrations.
• Assist dentist in management of medical and dental emergencies.
• Follow company policies, procedures and company trainings regarding patient care including but not limited to scheduling and time management protocols.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the dental practice both in and outside the dental practice.
• Participate in marketing events to promote dental services and the practice.
• Other special projects or responsibilities as assigned.

• Medicine and Dentistry: Knowledge of dental information and techniques needed to identify dental diseases and deformities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years experience on the job training.
• Managerial / Lead experience is a must.
• Must be knowledgeable with oral surgery, implant systems, etc.
• Open Dental, ADP experience is a plus.
