About the role

A Speech Pathologist evaluates patients to determine the causes and effects of various speech, language, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders that affect patients. They investigate communications disorders and often different kinds of behaviors that manifest with communication difficulties. The Speech Pathologist in this role will care for adult patients over the age of 18 years old. You will work with patients with neuro disorders, dysphagia, and cognitive issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical services to patients.
  • Perform diagnostic speech pathology test procedures.
  • Evaluate communication and swallowing function of patients.
  • Interpret and report test results to facilitate medical diagnosis.
  • Provide counseling and education about communication and the diagnosis to patients and families.
  • Determine therapeutic plans, including the need for therapy, frequency of treatment, focus for intervention, prognosis and duration of therapy.
  • Select assistive speech devices to improve the patient’s communication.
  • Perform re-evaluation to determine progress after therapy.
  • Provide observations about hearing and other behaviors to help determine the need for other services.
  • Maintain records of all services.
  • Communicate results and recommendations for improving communicative function to referral sources and outside agencies such as schools and employees.
  • Aid in planning, budgeting, service or project development, fee setting, and purchasing of new equipment or materials.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology
  • Must hold or be eligible for a Speech-Language Pathology License (SP) from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology.
  • Must hold (SP) license in current state upon start date.
  • Holds Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Completed nine month Clinical Fellowship Year.

Qualifications

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to perform tests.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

Pay Range Minimum hourly: $30.41 Maximum hourly: $46.38

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a schedule of Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Start time may vary based on patient needs. No weekends or holidays are required.
