About the Role

Responsible for the overall operational flow of the inpatient unit, including coordination, collaboration, and direction of the entire unit during the assigned shift to ensure effective delivery of healthcare services and unit-specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Functions as a staff resource in facilitating critical thinking and clinical decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct unit operations during the assigned shift.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure effective patient care delivery.
  • Facilitate critical thinking and clinical decision-making among staff.
  • Manage changing patient needs, including acute, chronic, and complex disease processes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, family members, physicians, visitors, and co-workers in high-stress situations.
  • Work independently and cooperatively with healthcare team members (e.g., physicians, rehabilitation, respiratory, diagnostic imaging, lab).
  • Prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and respond quickly to emergency situations.
  • Use analytical and critical thinking skills to problem-solve and make clinical decisions.
  • Maintain accuracy and efficiency while multitasking in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (required).
  • Current and valid State of New Jersey Registered Nursing license (or legal permission to work from the New Jersey Board of Nursing).
  • Completion of general nursing orientation, CPR certification, and unit-based orientation.
  • Progressive supervisory experience (e.g., relief charge nurse).
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, computer, and keyboard skills.

Qualifications

As of June 1, 2026, a Magnet-recognized national certification will be required.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $55.34 – $69.17, depending on role, experience, education, and licensure.

Schedule

Night shift, located at The Valley Hospital in Paramus.
