Responsibilities
- Provides back-up coverage as needed to coworkers and other physicians.
- Schedules all in-office appointments including new patient, post-op and pre-op appointments, in-office procedures, and out/inpatient procedures/surgeries.
- Reviews incoming referrals.
- Obtains and initiates authorizations when required, verifies insurance eligibility, updates patient demographic information, ensures proper pre-certifications, and obtains medical clearances.
- Reschedules patients as needed to comply with physician’s schedule changes.
- Maintains organization and proper handling of voicemail, text messages, incoming faxes, written messages, and referrals to ensure patient’s needs are met in a timely manner.
- Communicates effectively with each physician for patient messages.
- Performs general office duties such as indexing medical records.
- Conducts themselves professionally and carries out other duties as assigned by management.
- Maintains effective communication with physicians, hospital, ambulatory surgery center, vendors, patients, and other staff, while adhering to safety protocols and safeguarding patient confidentiality.
Requirements
- Experience with medical terminology—including familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 codes—and a solid understanding of the medical insurance process is preferred and highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations is preferred but not required.
- Strong customer service abilities, professionalism when interacting with patients, and the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment with high call volumes are important.
- The ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, problem-solve, and meet deadlines is critical.
- Computer skills required: the ability to type a minimum of 60 words per minute, general knowledge of basic computer systems, and proficiency with Microsoft applications is preferred.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is preferred but not required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- A two-year college degree is preferred but not required.

Benefits
- Position maybe eligible for remote work on administrative days when primary physician is not in clinic upon management review.
Pay
- Pay Range: $25.00 to $30.39
- Hourly Evening Shift Differential: $3.00
- Hourly Night Shift Differential: $3.00
Schedule
- Assigned Work Hours: 40 per week
