About the role

The Clinical Resource Nurse position at Houston Methodist Hospital is a population-specific clinician responsible for assisting patients/families navigate the complex health care system. This role supports the standardization and efficiency of care for patients in the assigned service line/unit.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between ancillary departments, clinicians, physicians, and patients to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Assist patient care staff or directly educate patients and families on disease-specific guidelines and treatment options.
  • Educate and facilitate patient on introduction to program, resource referrals, and counseling.
  • Develop and facilitate educational programs for hospital health care providers, patients, families, and community groups.
  • Contribute to improving nurse satisfaction/engagement by serving as a role model and mentor.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and recommend and lead improvements in patient safety-related processes.
  • Provide clinical expertise on patient care, as needed, to patient care providers and other health care professionals.
  • Lead and identify opportunities for practice changes.
  • Implement strategies to achieve financial targets on unit-based scorecard and mentor others to do the same.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Three years experience with direct clinical nursing patient care in an acute care or specialty setting.
  • Leadership, Charge, or Coordinator experience.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure - Texas Board of Nursing_PSV Compact Licensure – Must obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days (if establishing Texas residency).
  • BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association and Magnet-ANCC recognized certification (HM) within 1 year.
