Responsibilities

  • Coordination of research projects including coordination with physicians, nurses, and other staff members caring for the patient enrolled in a research study.
  • Certification in and strict adherence to research protocols.
  • Activities directly related to research include recruitment and evaluation of eligibility, giving and obtaining informed consent, education of participants, obtaining specimens, direct patient interactions during studies and follow-up after the conclusion of the study and accurate reporting of all necessary data.
  • Provides technical support to non-nurse research personnel as directed.

Requirements

  • Current State of Utah RN license.
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail and scheduling applications.
  • Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • RNs hired or promoted into this role need to have or obtain their BSN within three years of hire or promotion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution (education will be verified).
  • Prior experience in a role requiring the coordination of research studies or clinical program projects in the requisite field of medicine.
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess patient needs.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, etc.
