Clinical Pharmacy Specialist – Neonatal ICU

About the role

This position focuses on optimizing patient care through clinical services in a specialty practice area. The role involves conducting drug therapy monitoring and reviews, implementing interventions to reduce adverse events, educating and training pharmacy staff, and contributing to the medical community.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and evaluates patients' drug/medical histories to provide drug therapy recommendations.
• Provides drug information, evaluates medical literature, rounds with medical services, and conducts drug utilization reviews/monitors.
• Trains pharmacy staff, residents, students, and healthcare providers on clinical processes.
• Develops and implements interdisciplinary clinical pathways and protocols to enhance medication safety and utilization.
• Contributes to department and organizational goals by planning pharmaceutical care and assisting in the duties of a Pharmacy Practice Supervisor/Coordinator.
• Empowers Pharmacy Residents to become clinical specialists and provides input in planning pharmaceutical care.
• Presents research findings at meetings and publishes results in journals.

Qualifications

• Minimum Pharmacy Residency (PGY1) or 4 years of demonstrated clinical experience.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in the state of PA or eligible to obtain licensure within 120 days.
