Clinical Pharmacist - Inpatient, PRN
About the Role
Join Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, a Magnet Hospital awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and provide stellar care at one of the nation’s top healthcare organizations. As a PRN inpatient clinical pharmacist, you will collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and patients to support safe and effective medication use in a fast-paced hospital environment.
This PRN role requires a minimum of 4 shifts per month, with ideally 2 weekend days of availability.
Responsibilities
- Perform chart review and medication reconciliation
- Verify and clarify medication orders
- Oversee IV and sterile product preparation
- Optimize drug therapy and provide pharmacokinetic consults as applicable
- Cover operational pharmacy duties as needed
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds when scheduled
- Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered, and evidence-based medication services
- Verify and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations
- Document services completely, accurately, and in a timely manner
- Ensure pharmacy operations comply with national accreditation standards
- Maintain professional interactions with patients to facilitate successful experiences
- Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers, and/or patients
Requirements
- PharmD or Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy
- Current State licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- Completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification within 90 days of hire (for individuals administering immunizations)
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification
- Completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY1), fellowship, or 2 years of relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience
- Post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience (preferred for Clinical Pharmacists in a Specialized Pharmacy practice area)
Physical Requirements
- Standing and walking for approximately 75% of shift, including continuously for extended periods
- Manual dexterity sufficient for computer and dispensing functions
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
- Frequent reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps, and sitting
- Normal or corrected vision
- Ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person
Personal Protective Equipment
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay
Hourly pay range for new hires: $67.00 (minimum) to $67.00 (maximum). Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental, vision, retirement savings contributions).
