Clinical Nurse Pre-Admission Testing Center

About the Role

Hybrid role combining clinic nursing, scheduling, chart preparation, medical record retrieval, and RN phone triage. Perform in-person patient assessments in an outpatient clinic setting with a schedule of 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM (hours may vary slightly). Position rotates between Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJH), Barnes-Jewish West County, and South County CAM. No weekends, holidays, or call required. Expect 2-3 late shifts in a 6-week schedule. Must obtain Illinois nursing license within 60 days of hire.

Schedule

• 4-day workweek, 10-hour shifts

Responsibilities

• Promote patient and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Educate patients and families on illness/injury management, post-treatment home care, and medication administration.
• Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Engage in professional development.
• Develop, implement, and document individualized care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patient, and family.
• Ensure communication of the care plan across the continuum of care.
• Assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs using critical nursing skills and standards of care.
• Identify patient preferences and barriers to care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring constant alertness and safe work practices.

Requirements

• Active RN license (Illinois license required within 60 days of hire).
• 2 years of RN experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, exercising professional judgment and critical thinking.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
• No prior experience required.
• No supervisory experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
