The Role
The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse at the Clinical Nurse II (CN II) level plays a crucial role in the Women and Newborn Services team, providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the interprofessional health care team to deliver safe, efficient, patient-centered, timely and equitable care.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify patient-specific needs.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Maintain a safe, clean working environment, adhering to infection control and hospital policies.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by all health care team members, including oneself, and contribute to the progression of patients toward desired outcomes.
- Provide education to patients and families about medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
- Advocate for evidence-based practices in Labor and Delivery care.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing OR Associate's Degree in Nursing Nursing (ADN) with five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Labor and Delivery Unit in lieu of BSN.
- Two (2) years experience as a Registered Nurse in labor and delivery or equivalent setting.
- California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing - REQUIRED
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - REQUIRED
- AHA ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - REQUIRED
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - Various-Employee provides certificate - REQUIRED
- Current STABLE certification, preferred.
- Current Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification (AWHONN or other approved course), required.
Qualifications
- Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB) - National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties - PREFERRED
Skills
- Proficient in operating advanced labor & delivery related equipment and technology.
- Proficient in circulating and scrubbing (preferred) obstetrics surgical cases, as well as the recovery of post-operative obstetrics patients.
- Understanding in managing Procedural sterile fields and ensuring adherence to procedural protocols.
- Proficient in the Newborn Transition Role.
- Rapid decision-making skills in high-pressure environments.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to dynamic cases.
- Effective verbal and written communication with the Labor & Delivery team, patients, and families.
- Strong interpersonal skills to support a collaborative team environment.
