About the role

The clinical nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients. This individual will perform professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age-appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene, and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care. They will evaluate patient outcomes, assess the effectiveness of the plan of care, and determine readiness for discharge, making revisions or referrals as necessary. Additionally, the nurse will act as a role model and mentor to a variety of students and nurses new to the unit.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for assigned patients
  • Perform professional nursing duties incorporating psychomotor and age-appropriate cognitive skills
  • Absorb and respond to the psychomotor and age-appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other
  • Assess, plan, intervene, and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and the effectiveness of the plan of care
  • Determine readiness for discharge and make revisions or referrals as necessary
  • Act as a role model and mentor to a variety of students and nurses new to the unit
  • Function as a (PCC) Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager

Requirements

Less than 6 months experience for this new graduate position. If applicable, internal UCI candidate with 2+ years of UC service and possession of ADN with current enrollment in an accredited BSN program, with anticipated completion within 2 years. Current RN License. Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
