About the role

The clinical nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients. This individual will perform professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age-appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene, and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.

Evaluation of patient outcomes, effectiveness of the plan of care, and readiness for discharge will be conducted, and the plan will be revised or referrals made as necessary. Additionally, the clinical nurse will act as a role model and mentor to a variety of students and nurses new to the unit. When requested by the supervisor/manager, the clinical nurse will function as a (PCC) Patient Care Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Revise the plan or make referrals as necessary.
  • Act as a role model and mentor to students and nurses new to the unit.
  • Function as a (PCC) Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager.

Requirements

  • Less than 6 months experience for this new graduate position.
  • If applicable, internal UCI candidate with 2+ years of UC service and possession of ADN with current enrollment in an accredited BSN program, with anticipated completion within 2 years.
  • Current RN License.
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science, Nursing.

Skills

  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families (preferred).
