About the role

St. Louis Children's Hospital is located at One Children's Place, St. Louis, MO 63110. This part-time position requires 24 hours per week, working days with three shifts per week, Monday through Friday, with shift times between 6am – 9am. The role involves an on-call rotation for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
  • Educates patients and their families on managing illnesses or injuries, including post-treatment home care needs and medication administration.
  • Participates in activities that enhance patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Engages in professional development.
  • Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver.
  • Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
  • Utilizes critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
  • Affirms patient preferences and addresses barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.

Requirements

  • Same Day Surgery/PACU nursing experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of pediatric nursing experience.

Qualifications

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate's degree.
  • No prior supervisor experience required.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.

Skills

Proficiency in critical nursing skills, ability to work in a state of alertness, and adherence to regulatory compliance are essential.
