Clinical Leader/Assistant Nurse Manager RN (Emergency Department)
About the role
CentraState Healthcare System is seeking a Clinical Leader (Assistant Nurse Manager) in the Emergency Department. This role supports the Nurse Manager in planning, directing, and supervising the overall operations of the Emergency Department.
Responsibilities
- Affirms the patient's right to make decisions regarding his/her medical care, including the decision to discontinue treatment, to the extent permitted by law.
- Demonstrates the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the needs of the age of the patients cared for.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the range of care needed based on the age of the patients cared for.
- Successfully completes life-span education as appropriate.
- Obtains a complete nursing history and baseline assessment that is systematic, consistent, and continuous.
- This assessment is communicated effectively and documented.
- Appropriately analyzes health status data to determine nursing diagnosis and needs for appropriate nursing care, medical intervention or services of other clinical professionals.
- Identifies patient problems and formulates nursing diagnosis according to physical, psychological, spiritual/cultural and educational needs in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary approach.
- Administers medications as needed following CSHS policies and manufacturer's instructions.
- Takes immediate and appropriate actions in the event of a medication variance occurrence.
- Provides appropriate education based upon teaching plan.
- Maintains RN competencies required for Emergency department.
- Supports and assists staff in daily operations as required.
- Participates in the development of unit policies and protocols as needed.
- Periodically reviews and revises policies, meeting with appropriate committees for approval process.
- Collects, analyzes quality indicators for the Emergency department in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
- Develops action plans and reports quality initiatives in the Emergency department to committees and meetings.
- Acts as resource for the Emergency Department staff.
- In collaboration with Nurse Manager, disciplines employees and completes and delivers performance appraisals.
- Performs clinical duties (Charge RN, Triage RN, etc) during periods of short staffing.
- Continually monitors patient flow throughout the Emergency department.
- Participates in unit conferences to discuss quality issues and quality improvement strategies.
- Consistently adheres to hospital policy regarding the insertion, maintenance and removal of foley catheters, if applicable.
- Able to verbalize and demonstrate proper rationale and techniques surrounding all aspects of indwelling urinary catheter care as per policy # 4668.
- Fulfills the requirements for competencies and completion of annual mandatories surrounding indwelling urinary catheters.
- Takes a patient assignment when necessary.
- Collaborates with Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Telecommunication to ensure optimal continuity of care, from pre-hospital to hospital.
- Coordinates educational and process improvement activities including case reviews with EMS teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
- Master's degree in Nursing required or must obtain within 3 years from date of hire (or internal transfer) as a condition of employment.
- Minimum of two years of emergency nursing experience required.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Current NJ RN License required.
- CPR Certification required.
- ACLS certification required.
- 8 hours of basic trauma education required to be achieved within the first year and maintained thereafter.
- PALS Certification required to be achieved within the first year and maintained thereafter.
- ENPC Certification required to be achieved within the first year and maintained thereafter.
- Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team.

The compensation above reflects the established range from CentraState Healthcare System (CSHS) for this position at the time the job was posted. CSHS considers many factors to determine compensation, including education, experience, skills, licenses, certification, and training. As such, team member compensation may fall outside this range. Additionally, the compensation range reflects base salary and does not include extra shift rates or incentives tied to quality, productivity, etc., as applicable. The benefits outlined also reflect CSHS’ policy at the time of posting. Benefits as are made available to other similarly situated team members of CSHS, although participation is at all times in accordance with and subject to the eligibility and other provisions of such plans and programs. CSHS may modify its benefits plans or programs at any time.
Pay
$107,250.00 - $182,330.00 annually
