About the role
The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology in Seattle, WA is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 2 for the Phlebotomy & Specimen Processing Services (PSPS) Team at Harborview Medical Center. The ideal candidate is passionate about science and ready to contribute to patient care.
Responsibilities
- Prepares packages and ensures send-out samples are forwarded to appropriate reference labs for testing.
- Maintains awareness of and uses resources to provide instruction on specialized and targeted tests not performed by the UW Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology.
- Handles problem resolution of specimens and collaborates with the Clinical Administrative Support Team and Lab Medicine Residents.
- Aids in the preparation of special collection materials needed for referral testing.
- Maintains an adequate stock of special collection materials and builds relationships with referral laboratories.
- Trains and supports new and existing staff on reference laboratory send-out activities and problem resolution.
- Serves as a resource to general PSPS staff regarding the Lab Information System (LIS) and Clinical Information System (CIS).
- Performs duties of a CLT 1 as needed and assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent AND two (2) years of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience.
- Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist (MA-P) certification with the Washington State Department of Health, or obtain certification within 180 days of start date.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in science preferred.
- Experience in a major medical hospital laboratory.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS).
Qualifications

Pay
Pay Range: Minimum $28.53 hourly, Maximum $40.85 hourly.
Schedule
Day shift, 100% FTE work schedule, Tuesday - Saturday 0600-1430, including weekends and holidays.
