About the Role

USC Counseling and Mental Health Services (CMH) seeks an experienced California-licensed mental health therapist (PhD/PsyD, LCSW, LMFT) with expertise in treating eating disorders and body dysmorphia to join the Multidisciplinary Eating and Body Image Concerns (MEBIC) team. This is a full-time clinical faculty position with an academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and a clinical service assignment within the Engemann Student Health Center.

The MEBIC team is a diverse, dynamic, and multidisciplinary group committed to providing excellent multiculturally competent clinical treatment, training, and outreach services to USC students. The role involves delivering evidence-based, trauma-informed psychological interventions, including individual and group therapy, intake assessments, crisis intervention, case consultation, and after-hours coverage. The position may also include supervising interns and practicum students, providing didactic training, and conducting psycho-educational workshops for faculty, staff, and students. Additionally, the role supports KSOM clinical consultations and research/data collection efforts.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial diagnostic evaluations and biopsychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide evidence-based, multiculturally and trauma-informed psychological interventions to USC students.
• Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy for students presenting with eating disorders, body dysmorphia, and other mental health concerns.
• Participate as a member of the MEBIC team, contributing to clinical, training, and outreach initiatives.
• Evaluate and intervene in crisis situations appropriately.
• Provide after-hours on-call service as assigned.
• Complete timely documentation and billing in accordance with clinic policies.
• Maintain appropriate clinical records and comply with all relevant regulatory policies and procedures.
• Participate in clinical outcome evaluations and collaborate with other mental health and primary care providers.
• Engage in multidisciplinary case conferences, clinic meetings, and department/division meetings.
• Supervise interns and practicum students, and provide didactic training in seminars for social work, marriage and family therapy, and psychology trainees.
• Present psycho-educational workshops to USC faculty, staff, and students.
• Support KSOM faculty in research and data collection efforts.
• Participate in peer review, performance evaluation, merit review processes, and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

• Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program, or Master’s degree in Social Work or Marriage & Family Therapy.
• Licensed to practice in California.
• Strong diagnostic skills and knowledge of DSM-5-TR.
• Well-developed clinical skills and experience utilizing evidence-based interventions for mental and behavioral health conditions, including eating disorders and body image concerns.
• Multiculturally and trauma-informed approach to working with diverse student populations, including students of color, first-generation students, LGBTQIA+ students, and international students.
• Interest and skill in an integrated approach to care.
• Ability to manage a high volume of patients and meet departmental productivity standards.
• Flexibility and comfort adapting to a fast-paced, evolving clinical practice.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with university students.
• Three or more years of post-licensure experience treating eating disorders.
• Familiarity with NICE and APA Guidelines for Standard Care of Practice for Eating Disorders.
• Resilience, self-awareness, and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
• Experience addressing issues common in late adolescence, such as identity development (e.g., sexual, gender, racial/ethnic), sexual trauma, and substance use disorders.
