Clinical Quality Informatics Specialist - Clinical Analytics - Full Time 8-hour days (Exempt) (Non-union)

About the role

This position requires solid clinical knowledge and experience in developing, implementing, and providing operational support for clinical information systems. The role will optimize clinical system report writing to meet departmental and organizational needs. The individual must foster teamwork through collaboration with clinicians, project managers, vendors, regulatory agencies, and technical experts to ensure the design and deployment of information that improves patient care and outcomes.

The Clinical Quality Informatics Specialist will use expert knowledge to aggregate data from disparate systems and create analytics to solve healthcare problems or support decision-making operationally, clinically, and financially. The role involves working with large-scale data sets and applying analytics in response to end-user requirements.

Responsibilities

• Administers the implementation, training, and evaluation of clinical databases with a focus on the UHC/Vizient database.
• Maintains expert knowledge on database operations; stays abreast of changes in functionality and usefulness.
• Synthesizes data and develops reports for specific audiences and objectives using QlikView, Qlik Sense, Tableau, SAS, and other data aggregation and analytics tools.
• Develops and maintains both standard and ad hoc reports. Provides expertise in creating Cerner reports and setting up/monitoring operational processes to deliver reports ad-hoc or at scheduled intervals.
• Aggregates data from quality data systems and creates analytics that contribute to solving healthcare problems and support clinical and financial decision-making.
• Monitors application use, systems performance, and stability. Collaborates with key individuals to resolve issues proactively.
• Secures end-user input in design development and leads initiative design processes.
• Functions as a key member of quality improvement teams within the organization.
• Integrates with clinical IT staff to ensure consistent messaging across the organization.
• Leads project management for the development of clinical process/outcome measures and data capture.
• Provides end-user education and support.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Computer Science, Information Systems, Informatics, or a related field (required).
• Master’s degree in Public Health, Computer Science, Information Systems, Informatics, or a related field (preferred).
• 2–5 years of practical experience supporting the data preparation requirements of an interdisciplinary team in a large-scale data analytics context (required).
• At least 3 years of experience in a healthcare environment (required).
• Knowledgeable about existing programs for data validation and data cleansing (required).
• Experience with high-level analytics tools and data formats (required).
• Experience in statistics, algorithms, and graph-based software (required).
• Strong communication and leadership skills (required).
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and lead others in a team environment (required).
• Demonstrated experience in database and data manipulation and presentation (required).
• Strong ability to write CCL for Discern/PowerInsight/HealtheIntent reports (required).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) (preferred).
• Proven track record in the use of a clinical quality database (preferred).
• Biostatistics skills, including experience with statistical methods for data collection and analysis (required).
• Certification in Lean Six Sigma, Informatics, or willingness to obtain within 1 year of hire (required).
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) certification, if not held upon hire, must be obtained within 30 days (required within LA City only).

Pay

The annual base salary range for this position is $99,507.00 - $164,559.00.
