Job Summary

The Clinical Informaticist serves as a strategic advisor, operational partner and thought leader bridging clinical operations, technology, and organizational strategy. This role combines high-level governance and technology strategy with hands-on execution to ensure successful deployment and optimization of Epic and related systems.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as a trusted advisor to senior clinical and operational leadership on digital health strategy, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Influences enterprise governance structures to ensure technology decisions align with organizational priorities, regulatory compliance, and value-based care objectives.
  • Advises leadership on risk mitigation strategies related to technology implementation and data governance.
  • Serves as an internal consultant and subject matter expert on clinical informatics trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • PARTNERS WITH OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP TO DEFINE IT STRATEGIC ROADMAPS FOR CLINICAL OPERATIONS.
  • LEADS SYSTEM-WIDE WORKFLOW STANDARDIZATION INITIATIVES, ENHANCING SCALABILITY, INTEROPERABILITY, AND ALIGNMENT WITH EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICES.
  • CONDUCTS ENTERPRISE-LEVEL GAP ANALYSES TO IDENTIFY OPPORTUNITIES FOR AUTOMATION, OPTIMIZATION, AND INNOVATION ACROSS CLINICAL AND OPERATIONAL PROCESSES.
  • DEVELOPS FRAMEWORKS FOR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT LEVERAGING LEAN, SIX SIGMA, OR SIMILAR METHODOLOGIES.
  • DOCUMENTS CURRENT AND FUTURE STATE WORKFLOWS FOR EPIC MODULES AND INTEGRATED SYSTEMS TO SUPPORT DESIGN, BUILD, AND OPTIMIZATION.
  • COLLABORATES WITH CLINICAL AND OPERATIONAL TEAMS TO VALIDATE WORKFLOWS AND ENFORCE REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.
  • PROVIDES STRATEGIC INPUT INTO IT PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT, PRIORITIZING INVESTMENTS BASED ON CLINICAL IMPACT, ROI, AND ORGANIZATIONAL OBJECTIVES.
  • EVALUATES EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES (AI, PREDICTIVE ANALYTICS, VIRTUAL CARE) FOR APPLICABILITY AND INTEGRATION INTO CLINICAL WORKFLOWS.
  • ADVISES ON VENDOR SELECTION AND CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS TO ENSURE SOLUTIONS MEET STRATEGIC AND OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS.
  • SUPPORTS EPIC DEPLOYMENT PLANNING, INCLUDING ENVIRONMENT READINESS, INTERFACE VALIDATION, AND INTEGRATED TESTING COORDINATION.
  • UTILIZES ADVANCED ANALYTICS AND INFORMATICS TO MEASURE TECHNOLOGY ADOPTION, CLINICAL OUTCOMES, AND OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE.
  • TRANSLATES DATA INSIGHTS INTO ACTIONABLE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LEADERSHIP, INFLUENCING POLICY, RESOURCE ALLOCATION, AND STRATEGIC INITIATIVES.
  • CHAMPIONS THE USE OF PREDICTIVE MODELING AND ANALYTICS TO SUPPORT PROACTIVE CARE DELIVERY.
  • MONITORS KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS DURING AND POST-GO-LIVE TO ASSESS ADOPTION, IDENTIFY ISSUES, AND RECOMMEND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS.
  • LEADS ENTERPRISE-WIDE CHANGE MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES TO DRIVE ADOPTION OF DIGITAL SOLUTIONS, ENHANCING CULTURAL ALIGNMENT AND CLINICIAN ENGAGEMENT.
  • FACILITATES CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION BETWEEN CLINICAL, OPERATIONAL, AND IT TEAMS TO CO-CREATE SOLUTIONS THAT ENHANCE PATIENT SAFETY AND QUALITY.
  • COORDINATES AND SUPPORTS GO-LIVE ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING COMMAND CENTER OPERATIONS, ISSUE TRIAGE, AND ESCALATION MANAGEMENT.
  • PROVIDES HANDS-ON SUPPORT DURING ACTIVATION, ROUNDING WITH END USERS TO TRAVERSE AND REINFORCE WORKFLOWS.
  • DEVELOPS AND DELIVERS EXECUTIVE-LEVEL PRESENTATIONS AND STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS TO ARTICULATE VISION, PROGRESS, AND IMPACT.
  • SUPPORTS STRATEGIC PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT AND IT SERVICE MANAGEMENT EFFORTS.
  • PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

Qualifications

  • Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Informatics or Healthcare Administration
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a healthcare discipline such as nursing, nursing practitioner, physician's assistant, or some combination of experience as a clinical informaticist.
  • Experience supporting operations in an electronic healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare system, and the differing patient care processes within its settings.
  • Knowledge of the principles and methodologies of process improvement.
  • Epic experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Professional - Healthcare Info & Mgmt Systems or ANIA or other informatics certification.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration to practice in trained related area as required by State.

Skills

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to speak and write clearly and report out empirical data in an accurate and organized manner.
  • Strong analysis/problem solving and critical thinking; excellent computer skills with and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PPT, Visio, etc.).
  • Strong leadership, facilitation and teaching skills.
  • Understanding of the principles of project management, including documentation and communication.
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to work independently prioritize essential tasks and meet deadlines.
