About the Role

This is a Team Leader role in the International Dental Program at the Tampa Bay / Clearwater Campus, providing high-quality didactic and/or clinical instruction in a dental specialty to ensure students meet course outcomes. The position involves clinical instruction in the Predoctoral Clinic, didactic teaching, and scholarly activities.

Responsibilities

• Plans, evaluates, and delivers course materials and methods of instruction.
• Prepares course materials, assignments, and handouts; identifies specialized materials for outside reading.
• Initiates, facilitates, and moderates clinical discussions.
• Assists students with coursework outside of class and maintains attendance, grades, and other required records.
• Evaluates and grades students' work, including examinations, laboratory, and clinic work.
• Maintains regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
• Acts as advisor to student organizations, ensuring adherence to policies.

Team Leader Duties

• Oversees and develops evidence-based treatment plans for assigned students' patients.
• Monitors student progress to ensure clinical benchmarks are met.
• Conducts summative and formative assessments for Independent Clinical Performance Assessment (ICPA) readiness.
• Assigns new patients to D3 and D4 students for a well-rounded learning experience.
• Collaborates with the Patient Management Coordinator (PMC) to ensure comprehensive dental care and perform quarterly patient family reviews.
• Works with Department Chairs to implement department protocols and policies.
• Mentors and calibrates other clinic faculty.

Clinical Instruction

• Assesses clinical education and patient teaching needs using a variety of methods.
• Demonstrates patient care in clinical units.

Research & Scholarship

• Conducts research in a dental specialty and publishes findings in professional journals, books, or electronic media.
• Reviews papers for publication in journals.

Service & Professional Development

• Participates in campus and community events, such as public presentations.
• Identifies and provides services relating to fields of expertise for internal and external communities.

Other Assigned Duties

• Collaborates with staff and colleagues to address teaching and research issues and improve student learning experiences.
• Serves on academic or administrative committees related to institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
• Stays current with developments in the field through literature, professional discussions, and conferences.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education

• DDS/DMD or foreign equivalent dentistry degree.

Experience

• Professional doctoral-level teaching experience or a minimum of three (3) years of experience working in private practice.
