Clinical Faculty - Criminology
Location: Twin Falls, Off Campus Location - Remote-Idaho
This is a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position starting in August 2026. The position is contingent on funding and/or work to support the role.
About the Role
The Department of Culture, Society and Justice at the University of Idaho invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Criminology. While primarily contributing to online course delivery, this position will also teach one course per semester on the College of Southern Idaho campus in Twin Falls. All areas of specialization will be considered, but preference will be given to those that complement current course offerings and department strengths.
The successful candidate will teach core service courses in the Master of Sciences and undergraduate degree programs in criminology, such as Introduction to Criminology, Justice Institutions, Criminological Theory, Research Methods in Criminology, and/or Justice Policy Issues. Faculty are encouraged to teach specialty areas, supervise internships, and mentor and advise students at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Teaching load: 3/4 (seven classes per academic year).
Allocation of effort: Teaching & Advising 84%, Outreach & Extension 8%, University Service & Leadership 8%.
Responsibilities
- Teach core criminology courses at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Develop and deliver online courses.
- Teach one course per semester on the College of Southern Idaho campus in Twin Falls.
- Contribute to specialty areas within criminology.
- Supervise internships and mentor students at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Advise students in criminology programs.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in criminology, criminal justice, law & society, or a closely related field (required at time of hire).
- Experience developing and/or teaching criminology courses.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in criminology, criminal justice, law & society, or a closely related field (preferred; a JD does not meet the minimum educational requirements).
- Experience teaching online courses.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness at a college or university.
Pay
Advertised pay range: $60,100 or higher, commensurate with experience.
