About the role

The Clinical Educator will play a key role in developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs aimed at enhancing the clinical knowledge and competencies of nursing staff. This position is responsible for fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes professional development and excellence in care.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information
  • Collaborates effectively with colleagues and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Lead initiatives that support clinical competency validation and ongoing skill development
  • Integrate clinical performance data into educational planning to improve care delivery
  • Support the implementation of clinical innovations and practice changes through education
  • Promote the use of clinical guidelines and protocols to standardize and elevate care
  • Promote a culture of lifelong learning and professional development across the organization
  • Participate in strategic planning to align educational initiatives with organizational goals
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical staff and leadership to ensure alignment of practice and education
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify areas of improvement in clinical practice
  • Facilitate interprofessional collaboration to enhance team-based care and service delivery
  • Design, develop, and deliver evidence-based educational programs that meet the needs of various learning styles
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of educational initiatives through learner feedback, outcome measures, and performance data
  • Advocate for patient-centered care through staff education and role modeling
  • Educate staff on communication strategies that enhance patient satisfaction and trust
  • Promote cultural competence and health equity through targeted educational initiatives
  • Support initiatives that empower patients and families in the care process
  • Ensures all activities adhere to healthcare regulations and organizational policies
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery
  • Promotes a culture of patient safety which results in the identification and reduction of unsafe practices
  • Collaborate with quality and risk management teams to address performance gaps through education
  • Ensure documentation of educational activities meets accreditation and audit standards
  • Participate in root cause analyses and use findings to inform educational interventions
  • Monitor compliance with mandatory training and regulatory updates
  • Completes annual education requirements and maintains competency, as evidenced by completion of competency validation requirements
  • Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments
  • Participates in relevant workshops, seminars, and continuing education courses to stay current with industry trends, healthcare regulations, and best practices
  • Mentor staff in career development and leadership pathways
  • Support staff participation in professional organizations and conferences
  • Promotes stewardship of hospital resources while ensuring quality patient care
  • Demonstrate return on investment (ROI) for educational programs through outcome tracking
  • Optimize resource utilization by leveraging technology and blended learning models
  • Reduce turnover and recruitment costs through effective onboarding and retention strategies
  • Align educational initiatives with financial goals by improving efficiency and reducing errors

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience in a healthcare setting
  • Prior experience in clinical education, training, or a similar role preferred

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to evaluate and assess educational outcomes
  • Proficiency in the use of learning management systems and other educational technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Licensure/Certification

  • Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas
  • Board Certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC) preferred
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) from American Heart Association//American Red Cross required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) from American Heart Association//American Red Cross required, per unit requirement
  • Behavioral management and de-escalation training within 30 days after hire
  • PALS preferred
