About the Role
Works with managers, directors, staff, and physicians to implement and evaluate professional education courses and programs for healthcare professionals. Accountable for clinical practice educational initiatives to guide the transition of knowledge of various care providers into clinical bedside practice. Interprets and adheres to the American Nurses Credentialing Center, Nebraska Nurses Association, and Nebraska State Board of Nursing requirements to ensure program provision standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs, and consistently demonstrates core values.
- Coordinates courses and programs (entry-level to advanced nursing continuing education) independently or with a planning committee, as assigned by the Clinical Education and Professional Development Manager.
- Designs, coordinates, and facilitates comprehensive orientation programs to support integration and success in the clinical environment.
- Coordinates programs for internal and external professional customers, aligning with the organization’s mission, vision, goals, priorities, and resources while adhering to credentialing criteria. Maintains the learning management system to track employee participation, progress toward certification, and clinical practice progress of new orientees.
- Provides an appropriate climate for learning, models adult learning principles, and conveys nursing principles accurately in classroom and clinical settings. Participates in employee education initiatives by developing education plans and may serve as a nurse planner in committees for nursing continuing education programs.
- Participates in committees and collaborates with Bryan staff to promote high standards of care for licensed and non-licensed staff. Contributes to the development of department and organization procedures and supports decisions.
- Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of educational activities to ensure they maintain and enhance professional development.
- Participates in the ongoing development of unit skills, knowledge, and competencies for nursing. Assumes responsibility in shared, delegated, or collaborative assignments, leads or participates in planning committees or focus groups for nursing education needs and goals.
- Attends mandatory professional development in-services, maintains expertise to support the position, and pursues professional growth through seminars, workshops, and affiliations to stay current with trends in the field. Participates in meetings, committees, and department projects as assigned.
- Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduation from a School of Nursing with current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or an approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act.
- Master’s degree in Nursing or Education.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in nursing practice.
- Prior teaching experience preferred.

- Knowledge of credentialing requirements for nursing.
- Knowledge of nursing continuing education requirements in Nebraska.
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications relevant to work functions.

- Ability to incorporate adult learning principles and diverse teaching strategies within orientation and educational initiatives.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff.

- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Physical Requirements
Characterized as medium work requiring exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
