About the Role
This position is responsible for accurate coding, charging, and reconciliation of charges for all procedures performed in the Cardiac Cath/EP labs. It involves verification of procedural reports by physicians, editing and preparation of Sensis procedure reports, and inventory control tasks such as ordering, stocking, and maintaining par levels for consignment and non-consignment items.
Responsibilities
- Works with cath lab transporter to stock central supply items daily.
- Collects procedure charge sheets throughout the day and verifies procedure and supply charges on Sensis against the charge sheet, then exports billing.
- Completes daily cath lab statistical report.
- Places orders daily to replace used inventory.
- Maintains inventory consignment par levels and suggests adjustments as needed.
- Maintains in-date products, exchanging prior to expiration.
- Counts consignment and non-consignment inventory and reconciles as mandated.
- Tracks product usage and maintains products with current activity.
- Tracks products with rebates, special tier pricing, and bulk purchases.
- Tracks savings and potential savings related to cath lab inventory.
- Works with sales representatives, including initiating cost negotiations for new items, exchanging expired items, and replacing faulty or failure-to-cross items.
- Assesses and maintains department supplies, ensuring equipment and supplies are available and in operating condition.
- Communicates changes with physicians and staff regarding inventory.
- Accurately codes, charges, and reconciles charges for all procedures performed in the Cardiac Cath and Electrophysiology labs.
- Verifies physicians' procedural reports are complete and edits/prepares Sensis procedure reports.
- Assists Director designee with staff education of products and procedures.
- Stays abreast of Medicare coding changes and implements them as needed.
- Maintains intimate knowledge of Sensis with constant updating of supplies, staff, and procedures.
- Participates in cases if the workload dictates and stays proficient in the clinical role.
- Consults directly with cardiologists regarding their needs while planning for future equipment/software requirements in an economical fashion.
- Troubleshoots Siemens Artis and Sensis equipment.
- Interacts constantly with cardiologists, Director, and staff to assist with any projects as they arise.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited program of nursing or CVT required; BSN preferred.
- Current state Registered Nurse license or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact required, or licensed as a CVT.
- ACDIS certification (CCDS) preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in an acute or intensive care setting required.
- Knowledge of DRG system, ICD-10, Medicare Part A (for the hospital), Medicare Part B billing, and CPT coding (for the clinic) preferred.
