Job Description

Performs the operation, maintenance, and application of cardiac catheterization, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Maintains a current Ohio Nursing License.

  • Assists with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures in compliance with protocols, policies, and guidelines.
  • Prepares patients for procedures, including allergy documentation; monitors patients' conditions during procedures, e.g. blood pressure and heart rate.
  • Administers drugs and blood products under the orders and supervision of a physician.
  • Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Educates patients and families on cardiac catheterization procedures and policies.
  • Maintains and cleans cardiac equipment and upholds laboratory safety.
  • Engages in the “workplace community” by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff.
  • Works in accordance with on-call and scheduling requirements for the Catheterization and Electrophysiology Team.

Education Requirement

BSN, required.

Licensure Requirement

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio, required.

Certifications

BLS, required. PALS and ACLS certifications required within 4 months of employment.

One year of catheterization lab nurse or critical care experience, preferred.

Additional Physical Requirements

Performed But Not Listed Above Required to wear lead aprons with varying weights up to 25 lbs. Must be able to handle high levels of stress in emergency situations. Must be able to respond quickly to problem-solving situations while maintaining excellent interpersonal relations. Ability to visually and audibly perform all essential functions of the position.
