About the role
The University of Pikeville seeks a compassionate and highly organized Clinical Care Coordinator to support patient care operations within the Tanner College of Dental Medicine. This position plays a vital role in coordinating patient services, supporting student providers, and ensuring an efficient and patient-centered clinical experience. The Clinical Care Coordinator works closely with faculty, students, and staff to facilitate comprehensive care delivery while maintaining high standards of professionalism, communication, and service.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient scheduling, appointments, and follow-up care to ensure continuity of care.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for patients, addressing questions, concerns, and care coordination needs.
- Assist in managing patient flow within the clinics to support efficient operations and minimize delays.
- Collaborate with faculty and student providers to ensure appropriate treatment planning and case progression.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records in the electronic health record system.
- Verify patient information, insurance coverage, and required documentation prior to appointments.
- Assist with patient intake, including medical and dental history updates.
- Support patient education by reinforcing treatment plans, postoperative instructions, and preventive care guidance.
- Coordinate referrals to specialty care and track completion of referred services.
- Monitor patient compliance and recall systems to support ongoing care and clinic productivity.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, privacy, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support accreditation activities as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, certificate in dental assisting, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Prior experience in a dental or healthcare setting required.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and patient care processes preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
