About the Role

Cumberland Heights is seeking a Clinical Associate to join our team in transforming lives and providing hope and healing to those affected by alcohol or drug addiction. As a Clinical Associate, you will support counseling staff in delivering direct and indirect services to patients, facilitating a safe and therapeutic environment, and assisting patients in engaging with their treatment and recovery.

Responsibilities

• Provide information and orientation to patients and family members about clinical programs and services.
• Assist counseling staff with initial and ongoing assessments through data collection and observation.
• Conduct luggage and personal property searches.
• Deliver addiction and recovery-related psycho-education to individuals, groups, and families.
• Facilitate community groups, 12-step meetings, and discussion/study groups.
• Transport patients to 12-step meetings and therapeutic activities, adhering to safety guidelines.
• Support Activities Services staff with recreation, art, music, and adventure-based therapies.
• Manage the patient community, ensuring adherence to guidelines and promoting recovery.
• Intervene in clinical and community crises, utilizing them for therapeutic value.
• Assist in de-escalation and crisis management, including CPR and First Aid.
• Participate in team meetings, treatment plan reviews, and quality management teams.
• Document clinical information in the electronic patient record.
• Provide transportation for admitting and existing patients as needed.
• Recommend improvements to service quality and delivery.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle company funds appropriately.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• One year of experience in addictions treatment preferred.
• CPRS certification preferred but not required.
• Valid Tennessee Driver’s License preferred.
• Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office and clinical software.
• Ability to problem-solve, analyze, and interpret information.
• Adaptability to changing circumstances and patient needs.
• Cultural sensitivity and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to model and teach 12-step programs and philosophy.
• Crisis de-escalation skills and ability to work in stressful situations.
• If recovering, eighteen months of verifiable abstinence and active participation in a twelve-step program preferred.

Work Environment

The position is based on a 177-acre campus, involving outdoor walking and everyday safety precautions. Frequent interaction with individuals in crisis requires additional safety measures. The role includes varying shifts, weekends, overnight stays during inclement weather, and travel to off-site facilities. Physical requirements include lifting up to 20 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 40 lbs, and navigating uneven terrain. CPR/First Aid certification is required.
