Clinical Assistant (RMA/CMA/LPN/ATC/EMT)- Belmont

About the role

We are looking for a full-time Clinical Assistant in our Belmont office. The Clinical Assistant is responsible for providing and coordinating orthopedic patient care which includes performing routine office procedures and testing, participating in patient teaching, communicating effectively with others, and partnering with the physician/mid-level provider in the delivery of patient care.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm.

Responsibilities

• Updating clinical notes in electronic medical systems
• Completing phone triage
• Casting and bracing
• Performing routine office procedures
• Providing patient education
• Greeting patients and escorting them to the exam room
• Obtaining and documenting past medical/surgical histories, vitals, patient medications, and allergies in the EHR system (Epic)
• Assisting the practitioner with patient examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures
• Cleaning and sterilizing rooms and equipment after each encounter
• Suture/staple removal
• Assisting with casting/bracing and injections
• Educating patients through booklets/instruction sheets prior to minor procedures in accordance with physician instruction
• Orchestrating administrative duties such as ordering supplies, stocking rooms, responding to patient messages, prescription refill requests, filing documents, and monitoring work queues in the EHR system

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of EMR (Epic)
• Ability to triage patient telephone calls: gather pertinent facts, be accurate and concise to assess patient health status, and act as liaison between patient and provider
• Ability to clearly and effectively educate patients, families, and staff regarding the full scope of patient care needs related to orthopedic problems
• Communicate effectively and clearly; respond well to questions from patients, physicians/mid-level providers, and co-workers

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited program for medical assistants, athletic training, or nursing or experience plus certification

• CMA/RMA must be registered/certified through one of the following national organizations:
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • National HealthCareer Association (NHA)
  • American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
• EMTs will need Emergency Medical Technician certification; national certification is accepted, but state certification is required upon recertification
• ATCs will need to be board certified as Athletic Trainer
• New graduates are welcome
