Clinical Assistant Professor of Agricultural Education

Job Summary

The Agronomy Department in the College of Agriculture at Purdue University is seeking applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor (full time, academic year appointment with some summer support available) with primary teaching responsibilities in School-Based Agricultural Education teacher preparation. The expected start date is August 17, 2026. This position will be joint with the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education.

Qualifications

• PhD or EdD in agricultural education or closely related field by the start of the appointment
• A minimum of three years of successful middle and/or high school agriculture teaching experience
• Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
• Eligibility for Instructional License in CTE: Agriculture
• Experience in college-level School-Based Agricultural Education teacher preparation instruction is desired

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Agricultural Education teacher preparation program
• Mentor and serve as career advisor for undergraduate students
• Develop curriculum
• Serve as the university student teacher supervisor for Agricultural Education student teachers
• Assist with the teacher education licensure accreditation process for Agricultural Education
• Contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning
• Mentor graduate students in this space
• Provide service to the program, school, college, and university through committee participation, stakeholder collaboration, co-advisor of the IAAE-Purdue student organization, exploration of re-establishing Purdue’s Alpha Tau Alpha Honorary Agricultural Education student organization, and engage with stakeholders at all levels
