About the role

The Clinical Assistant Professor- Implants faculty should have earned a DDS/DMD degree, having a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in general dentistry and (3) years’ experience with dental implant site preparation and placement. Must be able to obtain an unrestricted DEA license.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with students in the patient clinic, supervising all components associated with dental implant placement, including treatment planning, surgery, restoration (fixed and removable) and problem-solving.
  • Interact positively with students, treating all students as future colleagues.
  • Demonstrate dental procedures on patients to students as appropriate.
  • Be competent treating patient in all areas of general dentistry.
  • Be a positive role model for students in the classroom and clinic.
  • Be able to produce and deliver lectures to students, in area of discipline focus, as required for course.
  • Have strong clinical experience in the use of CAD/CAM dentistry and lasers, being competent in training pre-doctoral students in these.
  • Adopt different teaching techniques and styles to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Be willing to serve on committees within the college or department.
  • Interact professionally with all faculty and staff, treating all faculty and staff with respect and professionalism.
  • Evaluate students in a timely manner (daily, quarterly or weekly) as required by the course.
  • Be competent in the use of the college’s patient digital record keeping system.
  • Work professionally with specialists, mentoring to students the ideal of a positive working relationship of a general dentist with dental specialists.
  • Avoid discrimination and harassment in the workplace.
  • Assume other responsibilities as needed, at the request of the clinical faculty.
  • Teach and model critical-thinking to help students treatment plan implants as part of comprehensive care.

Requirements

The Clinical Assistant Professor Faculty must be eligible for and obtain licensure in the state of Illinois. They should be a person committed to educating and empowering students with a wide range of clinical and academic abilities.

Qualifications

  • Must have earned a DDS/DMD degree.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in general dentistry.
  • Three (3) years’ experience with dental implant site preparation and placement.
  • Ability to obtain an unrestricted DEA license.
  • Eligible for and obtain licensure in the state of Illinois.

Skills

  • Strong clinical skills in general dentistry and dental implant procedures.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM dentistry and laser technology.
  • Effective teaching and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and staff.
  • Knowledge of patient digital record keeping systems.
  • Ability to interact professionally with dental specialists.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

The Clinical Assistant Professor- Implants faculty will work a standard 40-hour work week, with occasional evening and weekend hours required for patient clinics.
