Patient Care
- Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice of Endodontics.
- Safely provide Endodontics treatment by predoctoral dental students.
- Ensure patient-centered, interdisciplinary, evidence-based care.
- Collaborate with Clinical Care Coordinators to develop treatment plans.
- Consult with patients for endodontic treatment recommendations.
- Assist the Assistant/Associate Dean of Clinical Education with patient management issues.
- Leverage emerging technologies in patient care as approved by the CDMI.
Clinic Operations and Quality Improvement
- Maintain and promote an environment of quality patient care and excellent student learning.
- Participate in compliance with federal, state, local, and University/College protocols.
- Contribute to faculty standardization in Endodontic treatment protocols.
- Implement continuous quality improvement strategies such as clinical record reviews and audits.
- Evaluate treatment outcomes and foster a teaching, non-punitive environment.
- Advise on academic issues to support the institution's vision of excellence in endodontics.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere to enhance morale and collegiality.
Clinical and Didactic Education
- Engage in course-related activities for CDMI students and faculty.
- Deliver didactic Endodontic lectures for CDMI faculty and students.
- Clinically supervise students in endodontic diagnosis and treatment.
- Provide clinical instruction and student feedback.
- Monitor and assess student performance.
- Advisory role in addressing student difficulties and improving performance.
- Prepare and provide information on student progress.
Qualifications
- DDS/DMD degree or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years of practice focusing on Endodontics.
- Post-doctoral training in Endodontics.
- Licensed to practice dentistry in the State of Illinois.
- DEA License required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to teach and mentor students effectively.
- Strong clinical skills consistent with a proficient practicing clinician.
- Highly skilled in using EPIC Electronic Health Record and related programs.
