Job Summary
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, in collaboration with the Transplant Surgery Service, is seeking a full-time psychiatrist as an attending in their Consultation-Liaison (CL) psychiatry service. This role focuses on providing inpatient and outpatient services to the transplant surgery division and other medical services, teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and pursuing scholarly activities.
Responsibilities are divided equally between transplant CL activities (50%) and CL activities to other medical-surgical and OBGYN services (50%). These percentages may vary based on service and educational needs.
- Serve as the leader of the Mental Health team overseeing provision of mental health services by fellows, residents, psychologists, social workers, case managers, and nurses.
- Provide direct clinical services, including consultations, follow-up, and pharmacologic and psychologic treatment.
- Lead and participate in interdisciplinary meetings.
- Teach trainees, and members from other disciplines.
- Engage in scholarly activities, and mentor others in scholarly activities, such as professional presentations, manuscript publications, and research.
Additional Activities/Responsibilities
- Present at conferences.
- Interview medical school and residency applicants.
- Mentor medical students and residents.
- Participate in committee work within the department, hospital, and university, as well as community outreach. Commensurate with experience.
