The Clinical Assistant / Associate Professor - OMFS position at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, Sacramento Campus, involves active participation in predoctoral teaching and patient care.
Responsibilities
- Predoctoral programDidactic, pre-clinical, and clinical teaching to dental students (lecture, block rotation, elective course)
- Serve as a supervisor for students providing clinical care of patients in the Sacramento clinic
- Provide academic advisement and guidance to dental students
- Participate in Personalized Instructional Programs and student research projects
- Provide emergency care to patients as needed
- Offer elective oral and maxillofacial surgery services that are beyond the scope of the predoctoral student program (e.g., dental implants, wisdom teeth, sedation)
- Perform elective and emergency oral and maxillofacial surgery services in Pacific Sacramento Ambulatory Surgery Center
- Engage in service to the dental school and professional community through participation in committees, interprofessional programs, school-wide activities, and local & regional professional organizations
Requirements
- Knowledge of curriculum management as it relates to oral and maxillofacial surgery
- Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, residents, students in various formats
- Experience in an academic setting preferred
- Licenses and certifications: DDS/DMD from an ADA-accredited school of dentistry, completion of an advanced education program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, current ACLS certification, and licensure eligible in California
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of practice experience
- Education: DDS/DMD from an ADA-accredited school of dentistry or equivalent
- Knowledge of competency based education and assessment methodology, modern pedagogical concepts and application in health professions education, trends in oral health and oral health education, dental accreditation standards and processes
- Experience: Previous experience in an academic setting preferred, previous experience in hospital and/or ambulatory surgery center is preferred
