About the role

Principal Faculty supports the Program Director in ensuring all aspects of the Program meet the Standards of Accreditation set forth by the ARC-PA. Principal faculty also ensures curriculum is consistent with current practice standards as it relates to the PA role in providing patient care and Oklahoma State University policies. This position is a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor, non-tenure track.

Responsibilities

  • Administers administrative responsibilities, including aligning programmatic operations with accreditation standards, participating in program evaluation and assessment activities, assisting in reviewing and revising the program’s mission, goals, and competencies.
  • Academic responsibilities, including evaluating student progress and performance at regular intervals, assuring the availability of remedial instruction, providing academic counseling and advising students, and providing classroom and laboratory instruction.
  • Service responsibilities, including participating in student recruitment and the admission review and selection process, advocating for the Program within the University, community clinical partners, as well as state and national organizations, and serving on committees, both internal and external to the institution, as approved by the program director.
  • Clinical Practice, recommended but not required: Provide medical care within an OSU sponsored clinic and Dedicated to serving as a PA student preceptor.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree (must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Two or more years of clinical experience working full-time as a physician assistant
  • NCCPA certification
  • Current State License, preferably with current DEA, OBNDD license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience, with an emphasis in PA education
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS certification

Skills, Proficiencies, And/or Knowledge

  • Knowledge and understanding of PA program organization and administration
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Leadership skills demonstrated by participation in local, regional or national PA programs
  • Clinical Practice, recommended but not required: Provide medical care within an OSU sponsored clinic and Dedicated to serving as a PA student preceptor
