About the role
As a Clinic Registration Representative at CHI St. Vincent, part of CommonSpirit Health, you will provide essential clerical support to caregivers by managing patient registration, insurance verification, financial assistance, point‑of‑service collections, data entry, record keeping, scheduling, referrals, front‑desk operations, and call handling while ensuring compliance with financial regulations and confidentiality standards.
Responsibilities
- Register patients, capturing demographic and medical history information.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, explaining financial obligations to patients.
- Assist patients with financial assistance inquiries and programs.
- Process point‑of‑service (POS) payments and reconcile transactions.
- Maintain accurate patient records through precise data entry and document management.
- Adhere to credit card handling regulations and privacy standards (e.g., PCI DSS) to safeguard sensitive financial data.
- Schedule patient appointments across clinics and departments following physician and APN protocols.
- Obtain necessary referrals from external providers to support patient care.
- Manage incoming deliveries and keep the reception area organized.
- Handle high volumes of incoming calls, addressing inquiries or directing them to appropriate team members.
- Apply critical thinking to scheduling complexities, anticipate issues, troubleshoot independently, and escalate complex matters to a supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in a medical office setting (preferred).
