Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming experience for all patients entering the building.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in alignment with HIPAA regulations.
- Register new patients and assist them in completing registration forms.
- Obtain and enter accurate demographic information into organization’s EHR.
- Verify insurance and provide information regarding MCC’s discount program.
- Collect, record payments and discuss financial arrangements with patients.
- Schedule appointments using MCC’s scheduling protocols.
- Act as a liaison for the patients and the organization by directing calls appropriately and using sound judgement in handling calls, especially with upset patients.
- Understand and implement basic de-escalation techniques.
- Understand when to escalate interactions to a supervisor.
- Answer phones, screen patients, and respond to phone messages.
- Make outbound calls to reschedule appointments, respond to provider, clinical staff requests to call patients.
- Maintains reception and front desk areas to ensure they are clean, presentable, and inviting.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- General office skills required, including how to use typical office equipment, such as telephones, computers, fax machines and scanners.
- Bilingual Spanish/English or other fluencies preferred.
- Previous experience in customer service or health care setting preferred.
- Experience in EMR or data entry preferred.
