About the role

Davey Tree Surgery Co. – Rutland, VT. Davey Utility Line Clearance, a division of The Davey Tree Expert Company, is offering a Climber/Trimmer position. This is a full‑time, permanent role with up to 25% travel, working outdoors to perform line clearance for major electric utility providers using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers.
• Prune treetops and repair damaged trees by trimming or removal.
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines.
• Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and more.
• Operate as an active crew member with ground crew and foreperson.

Requirements

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Valid driver’s license (required).
• Line clearance experience or other related tree work (required).

Qualifications

• Commercial Driver’s License‑Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement (preferred).
• Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law (preferred).
• ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional® (preferred).

Pay

Starting pay: $28.00/hour (based on experience).
