About the role
Full-time Phlebotomist responsible for venipuncture, specimen collection, processing, and lab clerical tasks at a healthcare site.
Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection adhering to age-specific standards and departmental protocols.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort using the AIDET communication model.
- Accurately enter orders, verify test results, retrieve patient information, and manage lab documentation.
- Process specimens promptly, including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and packaging.
- Maintain equipment, monitor refrigerator temperatures, and record QC/QA data.
- Communicate specimen issues to laboratory staff and physicians for optimal care.
- Perform clerical duties such as order entry, results verification, inventory management, and equipment sanitization.
- Follow safety protocols for biohazard waste and maintain a safe work environment.
- Participate in ongoing education and demonstrate teamwork and critical thinking skills.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified in phlebotomy through a recognized organization or medical training; or at least one year of healthcare phlebotomy experience; or CMA certification.
- Preferred experience with diverse patient types, specimen processing, EMR systems, and medical terminology.
