About the role
Full-time Phlebotomist Float responsible for specimen collection, patient care, and lab processing.
Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy and laboratory specimen collection per age-specific standards.
- Provide post-collection patient care and address medical assistance needs.
- Review and record refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA logs, report issues.
- Label, process, and handle specimens accurately following protocols.
- Procure blood samples from diverse patient populations, demonstrating age-related competency.
- Order tests electronically, prioritize tasks, and ensure low re-collection rates.
- Follow safety protocols, including patient identification and hand hygiene.
- Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and providers, providing timely updates.
- Assist coworkers, manage work efficiently, and participate in process improvements.
- Adhere to safety, ethical, and organizational policies, ensuring patient safety.
- Perform clerical tasks related to lab specimens, including documentation and result reporting.
- Travel to different sites as needed, demonstrate proactive task completion, and uphold team values.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certified in phlebotomy through a recognized organization or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: Experience with diverse patient types, specimen processing, EMR systems, and medical terminology.
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
