Client Billing Compliance Analyst

About the role

The Client Billing Compliance Analyst position at O’Melveny is responsible for ensuring that invoices and time narratives comply with client expectations. This role requires a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Business, and 3-5 years of law firm e-billing experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews Outside Counsel Guidelines and prepares a summary for distribution to all timekeepers working for the client.
• Trains timekeepers on adhering to the guidelines, focusing on proper narrative etiquette, expense allowances, and task/activity code usage.
• Customizes and coordinates best practice procedures to ensure a smooth billing process for partners and clients.
• Prepares reports and analyses as requested.
• Reviews inventory regularly to meet billing deadlines and minimize the billing and collections cycle.
• Acts as a liaison between clients, partners, and assistants, addressing issues and providing resolutions.
• Collaborates with internal staff, vendor staff, and client-designated personnel to coordinate efforts.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in Accounting or Business.
• 3-5 years of law firm e-billing experience.
• Proficient with various e-billing protocols, vendors, and the e-Billing Hub.
• Prior experience with third-party e-billing software is preferred.
• Familiarity with best practices for billing/collection in the legal industry.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proactive communication and exceptional follow-through skills.
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed (including evenings and weekends).

Benefits

The salary range for this role in California is $80,000 - $100,000, with the actual compensation determined by various factors including experience, qualifications, and location. O’Melveny offers an excellent salary and benefits package.
